A service post in Leonardville KS. The veterans who work hard raising money and taking care of their community. When they were told the mission I was taking on the first thing they said was not "why" it was not "how much is that going to cost you" it wasn't even "you be careful". You would think I would have gotten you be careful, but I did not. I got these words first " We have to get our passports; you may need help along the way, and we will need a passport to get to the Arctic to help you if you need it." Now that is Veterans taking care of veterans. NO HESITATION.
They made their donation with a quickness and had their passports sent rush.
THANK YOU ALR 40 love you guys.

A Brotherhood of bikers, based in Lincoln, NE USA, since 1998. The objectives of the Roughriders are Promote and encourage Brotherhood in the biker community. Promote safe motorcycle riding. Support those in need in their community.
Sunday rolled around and I was requested to join local businessman Rob of Home Oil to a small quiet little town in Nebraska. The Rough Riders of Lincoln were donating to the fundraiser and wanted to present me with the check. After a few calls ROUNDING UP FRIENDS and a lot of prayers, temperature rose and so did the speed of the Kansas winds blowing across the unplanted prairie. It was 65 miles on the Arctic Bike in winds of 40 mph. Myself and a few of my friends made the track into the state of Nebraska to this small town being led by Rob “WEED” a member of the Rough Riders NE.
Winds at 40 MPH and they fired up their bikes. They drove 65 miles from the other direction to the small dusty little town in southern Nebraska. As I pulled into the town, I couldn’t help but be reminded of the old black and white sit com town of Mayberry “Andy Griffith” however this town had but 100 people in it. I saw three cars and one intersection. We parked the bikes and walked inside. It was a small home town bar/restaurant/insert everything else here…. The people were enjoying their day in piece and quiet as seemed to be the norm around there. We grabbed a Coke and had a seat. In a few short minutes we could hear the rumble of the most well-known sound in America. The unmistakable sound made by Harley Davidson. The rumble seemed to last for 5 minutes. This was no solo rider pulling in. It sounded as if they doubled the population of the small quiet town. They packed into the restaurant, correction I was informed by the owner she does not cook on Sundays or Mondays so it was a bar on Sundays and Mondays. If you plan on eating here you better bring it in Tuesday through Saturday. In an effort to be completely transparent I plan on doing just that. I will go back to Barneston NE and eat there this summer.
I met a lot of tough looking bikers who were simply just big teddy bears. I was impressed on how they all had one mission they shared together and that was helping other people. They heard about the Arctic Adventure 22 raising money for Mission 22 and they opened their check book. They rode the treacherous windy roads of Nebraska to this small town just to give that check and make sure I knew how much they supported this fundraiser. They acted as if no one in the room was a stranger yet this was the first time we met. I was very impressed with this group of people. So very impressed.
On the ride home while fighting the horrendous winds that only increased during the break. I couldn’t help but think of what one of the Rough Riders said in that little bar/restaurant/insert everything else here… In reference to the Rough Riders “We are not all Veterans, but we are Patriots and we appreciate what you are doing”. It is so good to see that some people are just good people.
I started this mission as a solo ride in September of 2021. I decided I would do this trip not because it was easy but because it was going to be hard. I had no expectations that it would be any other way. By December I was told I was not going alone and Scott Smith of Kansas City shined up his bike and made a similar statement “I’m not a veteran like you but I am going with you” .
Today I met a group of brothers I did not know I had. I only thought I was going on this journey alone. I was mistaken. I was sadly mistaken.
So many people will be along for the ride in their hearts and minds. So many people will be helped by what we are doing.
Thank You Rough Riders of Lincoln Nebraska not only for today, but for what you do every day in your community and how you help those in need. Thank You for being a part of Arctic Adventure 22 and your generous donation to Mission 22. You truly are a rare breed!!!!!!
